Straps & Strapless Bras

Straps & Strapless Bras

Strapless bras are the essential bra for every wardrobe. You can wear them with straps, without straps or racerback. Whether you are wearing a black strapless dress or just want flexibility, these tips will help you choose the right strapless bra for you.

What bra is best to wear under strappy tops & dresses?

A bra with detachable straps or a strapless bra, if you do not want a strap to be visible.

How do you make a strap bra strapless?

You need to buy a bra that is sold as a strapless bra or a bra with detachable straps. The straps attach to the front & back of the bra by swan hooks. To make it strapless, you simply remove this from the tab that holds it in place then your bra is ready to wear strapless.

How does a strapless bra work?

The support of any bra, whether it is strapless or not, comes from the band. While the straps simply help the bra to sit flat against your body. Strapless bras tend to have a little extra support from the band and a slightly wider hook & eye. As the band is the main source of support, this must fit snug to keep the bra up. You may want to consider going a little smaller on the band than usual, just not to small as the fit needs to remain comfortable and your cups need to fit.

Why does my bra strap keep falling?

If your straps are constantly falling off, then your bra does not fit you properly. The first thing you should check if your straps are constantly falling off is whether they are tight enough. If you can place two fingers between your strap and skin without being able to move them easily then your straps are snug. If you can move your two fingers around easily then they are too loose and need tightening. If your straps are snug, then your band size may be too big and you will need to go down a size. Remember when you do this you need to go up a cup size to compensate for the difference. The larger the band size the straps will be set wider in the back to accommodate a larger woman. The smaller the band size, the straps are going to set narrower in the back.
